The “24th Term War Journalism Training” commenced on Monday, featuring the participation of 25 journalists from 15 different countries, including Bangladesh. This two-week course is jointly organized by Anadolu Agency (AA), the Turkish Police Academy, and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) with the aim of providing journalists with the necessary skills to cover wars, disasters, and other extraordinary situations.
To mark the launch of this training program, an opening ceremony was conducted at the Anadolu headquarters. Key figures present at the event included AA News Academy Director Alptekin Cihangir Isbilir, Police Academy Deputy Director Fatih Inal, and TIKA Training Project Coordinator Mustafa Hasim Polat, alongside other officials from various organizations.
Isbilir emphasized the evolving role of journalists, highlighting that their responsibilities extend beyond documenting conflicts to include early warning mechanisms, conflict prevention, and minimizing civilian casualties. He underscored the increasing prevalence of conflicts and extraordinary situations worldwide, citing the tragic toll of journalists, including four women, in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
The Police Academy Deputy Director elaborated on the objectives of the training program, while the TIKA coordinator addressed the importance of distinguishing between propaganda and genuine news, urging trainees to prioritize reporting the truth and serving as advocates for truth in the face of propaganda.
The ceremony concluded with a group photograph to mark the initiation of the training program.
