Actress Sohana Saba has filed a case against mobile operator Robi Axiata Limited for allegedly using the content of ‘Gossip with Sohana Saba’ program without taking permission.
Apart from Robi as an institution, 14 people, including its Chairman Thayaparan Sangarapillai, were named in the lawsuit.
The actress lodged the case in the court of Dhaka’s Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain on Sunday.
Today the court recorded her statement and asked the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit the probe report by December 15.
The case statement said Tarokaloy produced a celebrity Talk Show named ‘Gossip with Sohana Saba’ four years ago. Around Tk 70 lakh was spent on the account of content creation and copyright registration for the program.
Many digital platforms, including Robi Axiata Limited and M/S Einstech Studios, have been publishing the content without any approval and license which is a violation of copyright law.
Actress Saba incurred losses of Tk 30 lakh as she did not receive her portion of the dividend.
