The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has directed the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) to investigate the unusual surge in the share price of Imam Button Industries Limited. Listed on both the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges, the company’s share price witnessed a significant increase from Tk. 104.40 on March 7th to Tk. 194.10 on October 26th. This abrupt and abnormal movement in the share price has prompted the regulatory body to issue instructions for a thorough inquiry into the recent trading activities of the company.
In a press release signed by BSEC’s Executive Director and Spokesperson Mohammad Rezaul Karim on Tuesday (November 28th), it was disclosed that the Dhaka Stock Exchange has been directed to investigate the company’s recent transactions and submit a report within the next 15 working days.
The directive also includes a provision for the submission of an investigation report by DSE to BSEC within the next 15 days.
