bKash, the leading mobile financial service provider in Bangladesh, has once again been recognized by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) as the highest Value Added Tax (VAT) payer in the service sector for the fiscal year 2021-22. Kamal Quadir, the CEO of bKash, received this prestigious honor from Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Muneem, Chairman of NBR, at a ceremony held at the NBR building. This marks the second consecutive year that bKash has received this recognition.
The CEO of bKash, Kamal Quadir, expressed his gratitude and highlighted bKash’s commitment to serving Bangladeshis by providing compliant, transparent, secure, and hassle-free digital financial and payment services. He emphasized that bKash ensures the deduction of applicable VAT and tax at the source for every transaction, contributing directly to the government treasury. Quadir stated, “We are humbled to have been recognized as the country’s top VAT collector in the services sector for the second consecutive year. As the largest Mobile Financial Service provider in the country, we will continue to operate regulated financial services for the betterment of Bangladesh.”
The National VAT Day, observed on December 10 every year by the NBR, honors the highest VAT payers in various categories. This recognition is part of NBR’s initiative to acknowledge organizations with an Electronic Business Identification Number (eBIN) that provide VAT slips to consumers and contribute to the national exchequer. bKash’s consistent commitment to regulatory compliance and financial transparency has positioned it as a key player in the digital financial services landscape in Bangladesh.
