Orthosongbad’s Zakir Sikder Grabs Prestigious CMJF Best Reporting Award

Zakir Sikder, a Senior Reporter at Online Media Orthosongbad.com, was honored with the Best Reporting Award for his exceptional contributions to capital market reporting, recognizing his professional excellence in the field. The CMJF Best Reporting Award – 2023 was jointly presented by the Capital Market Journalists Forum (CMJF) and the Capital Market Stabilization Fund (CMSF).

Fakhrul Islam, Senior Reporter at Daily Prothom Alo, and Mainul Ahsan, Senior Reporter at Bangla Vision, also received awards for their excellence in print and television categories, respectively.

On Tuesday, December 26, at an event hosted at Dhaka Club, the Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, presented awards to the winners.

The awards ceremony, chaired by M. Nojibur Rahman, former Chief Secretary and Chairman of the Capital Market Stabilization Fund, witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including BSEC Commissioner Dr. Sheikh Shamsuddin Ahmed and former BSEC Commissioner Arif Khan.

Shyamal Dutta, General Editor of the National Press Club and patron of CMJF-CMSF Best Reporting Awards 2023, welcomed attendees and delivered opening remarks.

The awards, which include certificates, crests, and a one lakh taka check, were distributed to three reporters who excelled in their respective categories.

For the awards, a total of 24 reporters submitted reports across three categories to compete in the competition. A jury board was formed for the selection process, and based on the cumulative scores assigned by the board’s judges, the best reporter in each category was chosen.

Zakir Sikdar was awarded for the report of the controversy surrounding a listed insurance company in the stock market, titled ‘Deceased Person Presented as Insurance Company Director, Resulting in Loan Acquisition.’ This report, published in May 2023, delved into the sensitive issue of borrowing against the backdrop of a deceased person, as revealed by thorough investigative research.
