DSEX, the primary index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), experienced a decent opening on Monday, January 22, with approximately 140 scrips showing a decline. Following a significant fall in the previous session on Sunday, where many stocks attracted buyers at lower prices, the index swiftly rebounded.
After closing at 6240 on Sunday, DSEX opened at 6192 on Monday and initiated a recovery at 10:05 am. The index reached 6256 and, after some fluctuations, stood at 6249 by 12.00 pm.
Stocks engaged in regular trading also exhibited strength during the opening session, with 208 DSE scrips advancing and 140 declining. In two hours of trading, the DSE recorded a turnover of Tk552 crore, surpassing the total turnover of less than Tk590 crore for the entire session on Sunday.
The securities regulator removed the floor price from all but 35 scrips on Sunday morning after nearly 18 months.
