Salman F Rahman, the Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser, has revealed that Saudi Arabia has expressed a strong interest in establishing a special economic zone in Payra, Patuakhali. During a press briefing at the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) building, Salman shared details of his three-day visit to Saudi Arabia, stating that the Saudi investment minister has conveyed their interest in creating an economic zone in Payra.
As part of a joint venture, Bangladesh aims to establish a urea fertilizer factory in Saudi Arabia, with the entire production of urea to be imported. Salman emphasized the positive reception of this proposal by the Saudi authorities, indicating a mutual willingness to proceed with the venture.
Addressing the Islamic Military Counterterrorism Coalition (IMCTC) meeting, Salman emphasized the consensus on key issues. He highlighted Bangladesh’s stance against terrorism in the name of Islam, emphasizing that terrorism has no religious affiliation, and terrorists seek only to tarnish Islam’s image. The meeting participants agreed to enhance collaboration among Islamic nations through the IMCTC, reinforcing their commitment to counterterrorism efforts.
