Drugs worth Tk 13.5cr captured in Cox’s Bazar

Border Guard Bangladesh, BGB on Saturday, 8 October, stated to have captured prohibited drugs worth nearly Tk 13.5 crore in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf Upazila.

Tipped off, a patrol team of BGB intercepted a boat carrying two suspected smugglers in the Kharangkhali area of Teknaf Upazila at 1.40 am while both of them were heading towards the Beribadh area after crossing the Naf river, said Lt Col Sheikh Khalid Md Iftekhar, Commander of BGB’s Teknaf battalion.

Both suspected smugglers run away but the BGB men captured a bag containing 2.120 kgs of crystal meth and 30,000 Yaba tablets worth Tk 11.50 crore, he said.

Meanwhile, a team of BGB-2 in another drive captured 50,000 pieces of Yaba and a battery-run three-wheeler at Hwaikong in Teknaf Upazila at 5.10 am.

The market value of the seized items is Tk 1.51 crore. However, no one was detained in connection with the transport.
