State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu announced today that essential commodity prices will be brought down to government-fixed rates, with all relevant agencies collaborating towards this goal.

Speaking after a discussion program commemorating Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 104th birth anniversary, Titu emphasized the Department of Agriculture Marketing’s role in setting prices, backed by district, upazila, and central-level committees.

“Our responsibility is to monitor the market from production to retail,” he stated, highlighting coordination efforts among various agencies for effective price control.

Titu acknowledged the challenge of immediate implementation but assured coordinated efforts with relevant authorities like the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, deputy commissioners, and upazila nirbahi officers.

He stressed ongoing dialogues with market committees and traders to address concerns and facilitate compliance with government-set rates.

Notably, the Department of Agriculture Marketing recently fixed prices for 29 essential agricultural products amidst rising market costs.
