Chinese Firm to Invest $6mn in Bangladesh Manufacturing Sector

Chinese company Taisheng (Bangladesh) Webbing Co. Ltd. is set to invest US$ 6 million to establish a manufacturing facility for shoes, bags, and garment accessories in the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) situated at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN), Mirsharai, Chattogram.

The agreement was signed recently at the BEPZA Complex in the presence of the Executive Chairman, Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA).

Representing their respective organizations, Ali Reza Mazid, Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Li Yecai, Managing Director of Taisheng (Bangladesh) Webbing Co. Ltd., signed the agreement.

The company plans to manufacture 6 million tons of shoe lace, elastic, draw cord, drawstring, string, webbing belt, and webbing tape annually, creating employment opportunities for 200 Bangladeshi nationals.

Other officials present during the signing ceremony included Mohammad Faruque Alam, Member (Engineering); Md. Ashraful Kabir, Member (Finance); A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Admin); Md. Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Investment Promotion); A.S.M. Anwar Parvez, Executive Director (Public Relations), along with representatives from the enterprise.
