Chattogram port and customs are set to remain operational during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays to facilitate a smooth supply chain, including import and export activities. Private depots and other related stakeholder organizations will also continue their operations from 10th to 14th April.

Institutions have already issued instructions to deploy manpower across various departments to ensure seamless operations. The Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) issued instructions on 3rd April, directing Chattogram Port, Pangaon Inland Container Terminal (ICT), and Dhaka Kamalapur Inland Container Depot (ICD) to operate throughout the Eid holidays. They also instructed the deployment of manpower at booths of several banks within the port premises.

CPA Secretary Md Omar Farooq stated that all necessary preparations have been made to ensure uninterrupted port operations during Eid. He mentioned that while delivery activities will be temporarily suspended on Eid day, they will resume in the afternoon, allowing product collections. Shipments will continue as usual.

Chattogram Customs has also instructed the continuation of activities during Eid. Mohammad Ruhul Amin, the Additional Commissioner of Chittagong Custom House, directed relevant customs units to ensure the continuation of export activities in Chattogram EPZ.

Ruhul Amin Shikder, the secretary-general of the Bangladesh Inland Container Depots Association, highlighted that private container depots have been operational during Eid holidays for the past decade. However, there is usually a noticeable decrease in container deliveries before and after Eid, leading to backlogs at ports and depots, which occurs annually.
