The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the apex trade organization of Bangladesh, has urged for stronger trade and economic ties with China. This call for enhanced collaboration was made during a meeting with leaders of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) on July 9, held at the China World Summit Wing, Shangri-La Circle, in Beijing, according to a press statement.
Call for Investment
FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam invited Chinese businessmen to invest in Bangladesh, emphasizing the numerous facilities and incentives available for foreign investors. He highlighted Bangladesh’s robust infrastructural development, strategic location, and favorable business policies, assuring the Chinese business leaders that Bangladesh offers a conducive environment for investment. He further stated that the FBCCI would provide comprehensive support to Chinese investors to facilitate their business operations in Bangladesh.
Special Economic Zones and Skilled Workforce
Mahbubul Alam pointed out that special economic zones, tax exemptions, and a skilled workforce are key advantages that make Bangladesh an attractive destination for Chinese investments. He emphasized the potential for future collaborations with CCPIT and CCOIC in several sectors, including information technology, garments, textiles, light engineering, and joint research initiatives to explore market opportunities. Additionally, he sought support from Chinese businesses for technology transfer.
Chinese Acknowledgment
During the meeting, CCPIT Secretary General Sun Xiao praised the recent infrastructural developments in Bangladesh. He highlighted CCPIT’s efforts in building a global corridor to facilitate seamless trade and investment flows, underscoring the mutual benefits of a strengthened economic partnership between China and Bangladesh.
