BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today urged President Mohammed Shahabuddin to immediately dissolve the Parliament and establish an interim government without delay.
“The Parliament must be dissolved, and an interim or neutral government must be formed within 24 hours as time is running out. Elections should be held within three months, or a political vacuum may arise,” Fakhrul stated during a press conference at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office in Dhaka.
Addressing the proposed outline for an interim government with Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the chief advisor, Fakhrul mentioned, “We will propose names when the President calls us. We haven’t finalized any names yet, but we will inform you once we do.”
He added, “Khaleda Zia will make a public appearance when she feels ready.”
Fakhrul called for an end to arrogant and vengeful actions, saying, “I urge everyone to stop vandalizing and setting fire to various institutions. Those who engage in such acts are opponents of the movement and their associates.”
He also appealed to BNP leaders and activists to remain calm and resist those causing unrest.
