This morning (18 September), metro rail services on the Agargaon to Motijheel route were temporarily suspended, as announced by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) via their verified Facebook page.
Operations came to a halt at 9:40 AM, while trains on the Uttara to Agargaon route continued to operate without disruption, according to the DMTCL statement.
The DMTCL assured passengers that updates would be provided once normal operations on the Agargaon-Motijheel route resume. “We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused,” the statement read.
Speaking with the news media, Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Director of Operations and Maintenance at DMTCL, explained the cause of the disruption. “The suspension is due to an issue with the viaduct between Farmgate and Bijoy Sarani. Our technical team is working to resolve the problem. It is currently unclear how long repairs will take, but normal service will be restored as soon as possible,” he said.
