Government employees are required to file their wealth statements for the financial year 2023-24 by November 30, 2024, announced Md Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration. Speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat today (September 22), Rahman emphasized that submitting wealth statements has now become mandatory for all public servants.
Starting from next year, these statements must be submitted by December 31 for each financial year, the senior secretary added.
Rahman explained that this measure aims to combat corruption and promote good governance by ensuring transparency and accountability among public servants. “Under Section 13 of the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules 1979, all government employees are required to file their wealth statements,” he stated.
He further warned that employees who fail to submit their statements, or provide incomplete or false information, will face penalties.
On September 1, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a directive mandating the submission of wealth statements by all government employees. A five-member committee was formed the following day to streamline and standardize the submission process.
Earlier, on August 25, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus announced that advisers would soon disclose their wealth statements and that submission would become compulsory for all public employees.
