blackcaps

New Zealand, Blackcaps obtained an all-round performance in the opening match of the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup against its opponent and the defending champion Australia to record a big 89-run win on Saturday, 22 October.

After being put in to bat first, last year’s runners-up, blackcaps were off to a flier with Finn Allen smashing 42 off 16 before Devon Conway took over to remain unbeaten on 92 off 58 and guided his team to a massive 200/3 in 20 overs.

Hence, the Aussies never looked in control of the chase as New Zealand struck early taking 3 wickets inside the Powerplay. David Warner, Aaron Finch and Mitchell Marsh fell badly and Glenn Maxwell made just 28 himself before being bowled while attempting a reverse sweep.

For New Zealand, Tim Southee was the chosen of the bowlers, taking 3/6 from just 2.1 overs while left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner also took the 3 wickets. Australia will next face Sri Lanka on Tuesday, 25 October while New Zealand takes on Afghanistan on Wednesday, 26 October.
