JCI Dhaka West has successfully implemented one of its flagship initiatives, Project Nijer Paye Darai 4.0, aimed at enabling long-term self-reliance among underprivileged families.
Breaking away from the traditional approach of humanitarian relief, the project focuses on providing sustainable assets instead of short-term support such as food or cash. These assets create long-lasting income opportunities and help families build a dignified and stable livelihood. A unique feature of this project is its fundraising model—collecting contributions from various sources and distributing essential livelihood tools to carefully selected families, helping them develop into fully self-sufficient individuals.
In 2025, the project invested 500,000 BDT to support poverty-stricken families in Satkhira. Under this initiative, three selected families received modern sugarcane juice machines, enabling them to start their own small businesses with minimal investment.
These machines provide year-round income opportunities, require very little technical skill, and help families manage essential daily expenses, ensure their children’s education, and achieve long-term financial stability.
Under the leadership and overall guidance of Sujaur Rahman Emon, 2025 Local President of JCI Dhaka West, all project activities were executed and completed successfully. He stated that this initiative is not about temporary relief but about empowering people through the right tools. The Nijer Paye Darai project enables underprivileged families to take charge of their own futures.
The Project Director of Nijer Paye Darai 4.0 was Md Sameen Rahman, 2025 Local Treasurer of JCI Dhaka West.
Inspired by the core principle of empowering people through sustainable means, the project aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1: No Poverty. Its year-round mission is to help as many families as possible become self-reliant. This impactful and practical initiative continues to set an example of positive social change by promoting sustainable development, equity, and livelihood creation.
It is worth mentioning that Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a global organization for young active citizens aged 18–40.
