Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing Celebrates Independence and National Day

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Beijing celebrated the Great Independence and National Day of Bangladesh on March 26, 2026, with immense enthusiasm and inspiration.

The day began with a national flag hoisting on the embassy premises, attended by Ambassador Md Nazmul Islam, diplomatic staff, and employees of the mission, followed by recitation from the Holy Quran and the reading of messages from the president, prime minister, foreign minister, and state minister for foreign affairs of Bangladesh.

In his address, Ambassador Nazmul Islam paid deep tribute to Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the proclamator of Bangladesh’s independence, as well as to the hundreds of thousands of martyrs and freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War, while calling on all to work together to build a prosperous and dignified nation.

He noted that following the mass uprising in July–August 2024 and a free and fair election held on February 12 of this year, the current government, led by Prime Minister Tarek Rahman, assumed office and has been working to fulfil the people’s aspirations through justice, good governance, and the rule of law under the “Bangladesh First” vision.

He also highlighted Bangladesh’s contributions to UN multilateral peacekeeping and mentioned the Foreign Minister’s candidacy for the presidency of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly.

In the evening, a diplomatic reception was held at a local Beijing hotel, attended by senior Chinese government officials, heads of diplomatic missions, Chinese business figures, university faculty, and members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community.

A cultural program was also organised, in which Bangladeshi students performed patriotic songs, folk music, and dances, while video presentations on Bangladesh’s tourism, cultural heritage, and economic potential were screened, all reflecting the nation’s rich heritage and its growing bilateral ties with China.
