South Africa’s semifinal hopes were dashed after they lost to Netherlands by 13 runs in their T20 World Cup 2022 fixture, at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide, on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 159 runs, South Africa was restricted to 145 for eight in 20 overs, with Brandon Glover taking a 3-wicket haul for Netherlands.
In the meantime, Fred Klaassen and Bas de Leede took 2 wickets each. Rilee Rossouw top-scored for South Africa with a knock of 25 runs off 19 balls. Initially, Colin Ackermann was in blistering form and smacked an unbeaten knock of 41 runs off 26 balls, helping his side post 158 for four in 20 overs.
Ackermann’s unbeaten knock also included 3 fours and 2 sixes. Opener Stephan Myburgh also played a crucial knock of 37 runs off 30 balls, including 7 fours. Meanwhile, Keshav Maharaj took 2 wickets for South Africa.
