Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, has once again clinched the unenviable title of the city with the poorest air quality worldwide.
As of 9:10 am today (June 20, 2023), Dhaka’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 156, classified as ‘unhealthy’. This designation indicates a significant health risk to its residents, with pollution levels surpassing the safe threshold.
Trailing behind Dhaka, Lahore in Pakistan, Delhi in India, and Karachi, also in Pakistan, secured the subsequent ranks, scoring AQIs of 152, 152, and 121 respectively.
The AQI serves as an essential indicator, informing individuals about the level of pollution in their surroundings and the potential health hazards associated with it.
