ADB predicts 6.6pc GDP growth

ADB

Asian Development Bank (ABD) has projected 6.6pc GDP growth for Bangladesh in fiscal 2022-23.

The forecast was disclosed in the ADB outlook released at its office at Agaorgaon in the city on Wednesday, September 21.

Bangladesh’s export and remittance are likely to remain weak as a result GDP growth will decrease. The inflation will remain at 6.7pc.

The main risk to this growth projection is a slowdown in exports caused by global uncertainty over the prolonged war in Ukraine, it added.

In April of this year, the ADB projected 7.1pc growth for Bangladesh in the current year.

“The government is navigating the prolonged external economic uncertainties relatively well and has implemented appropriate policies to reduce the external imbalance”, said Country Director Edimon Ginting.
