Mirza Abbas to Gift 1.30cr Dhaka Bank Shares to Son

Mirza Abbas Uddin Ahmed, a prominent figure in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and a co-founder of Dhaka Bank, has made a significant announcement: he intends to gift 1.30 crore shares of the bank to his son.

This transfer of shares is set to take place outside the stock exchange’s trading platform within the coming 30 days, as per a disclosure on the Dhaka Stock Exchange.

Based on data from Dhaka Bank, Mirza Abbas currently holds a 6.16% stake in this private-sector financial institution. Remarkably, his son, Mirza Yasser Abbas, has been serving as a director of the bank since 2012.

According to the bank’s 2022 annual report, Mirza Yasser possesses 3.49 crore shares, equivalent to a 3.68% ownership stake in Dhaka Bank.
