A delegation led by Sandeep Poundrik, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department in the Government of Bihar, India, paid a visit to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on Monday, October 9. This visit involved a meeting with Faruque Hassan, the President of BGMEA, held at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara, the capital’s district.
The primary objectives of the meeting centered on exploring potential areas for trade and investment collaboration between Bangladesh and India, with a particular emphasis on strengthening ties within the textile and apparel industry. Both sides acknowledged the substantial opportunities for cooperation within this sector and engaged in discussions on how to harness these prospects, as outlined in a press release.
The Indian delegation emphasized the investment prospects available in Bihar and extended support to investors interested in opportunities within the region. Meanwhile, during the meeting, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan stressed the significance of intensifying business collaboration between the two countries.
He underscored the necessity of pinpointing specific areas where Bangladesh and India can join forces to mutual advantage. President Faruque Hassan expressed optimism regarding the potential for expanding trade and investment relations, particularly within the textile and apparel industry—an essential sector for both nations.
He opined that Bangladesh and India have the potential to complement each other in capturing global market opportunities and advancing together.
