Dhaka, the densely populated capital of Bangladesh, has taken the lead as the city with the poorest air quality, registering an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 170 at 9:30 am today.
The air quality and pollution city ranking categorized Dhaka’s air as ‘unhealthy’.
Following Dhaka, Baghdad in Iraq, Kolkata in India, and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates secured the second, third, and fourth positions on the list, recording AQI scores of 164, 163, and 157, respectively.
An AQI falling between 151 and 200 is classified as ‘unhealthy’, while 201-300 is labeled as ‘very unhealthy’, and 301-400 is deemed ‘hazardous’, posing significant health risks to the local population.
