Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has issued a stern warning that stricter measures will be taken against the BNP-Jamaat alliance if they engage in further acts of arson, terrorism, or destruction under the guise of political movements.
Addressing a gathering of lawyers at the 2023 Lawyers’ Grand Rally in Dhaka, Sheikh Hasina emphasized that while the opposition parties have the right to conduct political movements, any involvement in criminal activities will not be tolerated.
The Prime Minister urged the legal community to expedite the resolution of cases related to arson and terrorism that occurred during the 2013-2015 political movements, during which over 500 people were killed and many suffered burn injuries.

The Prime Minister also recalled the tragic history of losing loved ones during the liberation struggle and urged that the culture of impunity must not be allowed to return.

Sheikh Hasina pledged additional funds to the benevolent fund for lawyers and urged others to contribute, highlighting the government’s efforts to improve the legal system in the country.
She also called on lawyers to assist victims, especially women and children, in obtaining justice. The Prime Minister encouraged people to utilize all available land for food production to address global economic challenges and rising inflation.
Furthermore, she expressed her commitment to ensuring the rule of law and justice in the country and urged lawyers to stand by the victims. The Prime Minister stressed the need to bolster food security in light of global challenges and rising prices due to international conflicts.
