In an event at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina awarded the Begum Rokeya Padak-2023 to five women for their exceptional contributions to society, women’s education, and empowerment.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, marked the 143rd birth and 91st death anniversary of Begum Rokeya Shakhawat Hossain. The recipients of the Begum Rokeya Padak 2023 include Khaleda Ekram (posthumous), Dr. Halida Hanum Akhter, Karunnesa Ashraf Dina (posthumous), Ranita Bala, and Nishat Majumder.
Each awardee received a gold medal, a certificate, and a check of Taka 4 lac. State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira, MP, and Secretary Nazma Mobarek delivered speeches during the ceremony. Nishat Majumder, representing the awardees, expressed her gratitude for the honor.
