President Md. Shahabuddin has granted initial approval for the deployment of troops to maintain law and order across the country in anticipation of the 12th parliamentary election.
The decision regarding the timing of the army’s deployment will be finalized after further discussions, as conveyed by EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal and EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam held a meeting with the president at Bangabhaban, during which the president provided preliminary approval.
The EC secretary mentioned that the president has pledged full cooperation to ensure a fair and peaceful election.
