Awami League President, Sheikh Hasina, appealed to voters on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, urging them to head to the polling centers early in the morning and cast their votes for the ‘boat’ symbol, emblematic of the Awami League. Addressing a public rally at Taraganj Degree College, she emphasized the historical significance of the boat symbol, comparing it to the vessel of Prophet Nuh that saved humanity during the Great Flood.
During the rally, Sheikh Hasina introduced the Awami League’s nominated candidate for the Rangpur-2 constituency, Abul Kalam Mohammad Ahasanul Huq Chowdhury (Duke), and urged attendees to support him. The Prime Minister highlighted the development programs implemented by the government over the past 15 years, attributing their success to the continuous support of the people.
She expressed the government’s commitment to completing the remaining development initiatives to fulfill the vision of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, aiming to create a country free from homelessness and poverty. Sheikh Hasina underscored the goal of providing a better life for all citizens, emphasizing that no one would be neglected in the country of Bangabandhu.
Sheikh Hasina stated that the progress achieved, including Bangladesh’s status as a developing country, could only continue with the ‘boat’ symbol in power. She emphasized her personal commitment to the well-being of the people, highlighting her lack of personal gain or loss and the overarching objective of ensuring a beautiful life for future generations.
The rally was presided over by Taraganj Upazila Awami League President Alhaj Atia Rahman, and Awami League nominated candidate Abul Kalam Mohammad Ahasanul Huq Chowdhury (Duke) also addressed the gathering.
