Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, has announced the passing of his mother, Hasina Mamtaz who was a renowned music artist in the country, succumbed to a heart attack on Sunday evening. 18th February. The BSEC chairman’s family confirmed the news, bringing clarity to the matter of her demise. The family revealed that Hasina Mamtaz took her last breath as the clock struck 6 PM due to cardiac arrest. She was 79 years old at the time of her passing. Funeral rites for the late Hasina Mamtaz are scheduled to take place on Monday (February 19) at the Dhanmondi Eidgah field in Dhaka.
Hasina Mamtaz, widely known as a prominent figure in the music industry during the 60s and 70s, made significant contributions to the field of vocal arts. She was honored with the National Award for her exceptional achievements in music. The mourning family is set to observe the final rituals and pay their respects at the Eidgah field in Dhanmondi on the following day.
The late Hasina Mamtaz was not only recognized for her musical prowess but also for her role as the spouse of Rafiqul Islam Khan, the former Managing Director of National Bank Limited. Her departure marks the end of an era in the music community, leaving behind a legacy that enriched Bangladesh’s cultural heritage.
