The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has identified two commercial buildings in Gulshan-2 as ‘risky’ due to insufficient fire safety measures. In a recent drive conducted by the DSCC mobile court, both a six-storied and a seven-storied building were labeled with cautionary banners, warning of potential fire hazards.
The mobile court, led by DNCC Zone-3 Executive Magistrate Zulkar Nayan, carried out the inspection. Accompanied by Executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan and officials from the Fire Service and Civil Defense, the team highlighted the buildings’ lack of adequate fire safety measures.
During the same drive, Kacchi Bhai restaurant in Gulshan-2 received a fine of Tk1 lakh for non-compliance with safety regulations. Additionally, Dhansiri restaurant faced a Tk40,000 penalty for similar violations. Another fine of Tk50,000 was imposed on a property at holding number 34 for storing goods on the stairs, posing a potential safety risk.
