Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has announced a new schedule for Metro Rail operations during the upcoming Ramadan, disclosing the details in a press conference on Sunday (March 10).
At the press conference held in the embassy premises jointly organized by CPD and the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka, the managing director of the company, M.A.N. Siddique, stated that there will be no changes in the Metro Rail operations during the first 15 days of Ramadan. However, in the last 15 days of Ramadan, the operation hours will be extended by one hour on both ends.
He mentioned that during this period, the last train from Motijheel will depart at 9:40 PM, and the last train from Uttara will depart at 9:20 PM.
M.A.N. Siddique also informed that from the 16th day of Ramadan onwards, an additional 10 trains will be in operation, increasing the frequency to 194 trips per day. This will accommodate approximately 4 lakh 47 thousand 752 passengers daily.
Furthermore, he mentioned that during Iftar, passengers will be allowed to carry 250 ml water bottles, and it is mandatory to dispose of the bottles in designated bins. The Iftar schedule will be displayed on LED screens inside and outside the trains.
It is currently noted that the last Metro Rail train departs from Uttara at 8:40 PM, and from Motijheel at 8:00 PM.
