Met Forecasts Rain Across Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecasts rain or thundershowers in parts of the country over the next 24 hours starting from 9:00 am on Sunday.

According to a BMD bulletin, “Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions.”

The bulletin also mentions that weather conditions may remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere across the country. Additionally, day and night temperatures may rise by 1-2°C nationwide.

Meteorologist Tariful Islam Newaz from the BMD reported 28 mm of rainfall in Dhaka over a span of six hours, from 12 am to 6 am. He further stated that the capital city may experience rain in the next 24 hours, starting from 9:00 am. Notably, the highest rainfall of 63 mm was recorded in Kishoreganj’s Nikli over 24 hours until 6 am today.

On Saturday, Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf and Khulna’s Mongla recorded the country’s highest temperature at 33.8 degrees Celsius each.
