Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on April 4th, urged local government representatives to prioritize the welfare of the people and maintain their trust and confidence.
Addressing the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected mayors of Cumilla and Mymensingh city corporations, as well as chairmen of five Zila Parishads, and councillors of Mymensingh City Corporation at Shapla Hall of her office, she emphasized the importance of sincere dedication to public service.
She reiterated her government’s commitment to nationwide development, focusing on grassroots-level progress and transforming villages into townships.
PM Hasina urged the public representatives to uphold their promises to the people and contribute to the ongoing socio-economic development, aiming for Bangladesh’s graduation as a developing country by 2026.
During the ceremony, she administered oaths to Cumilla’s first female mayor, Tahsin Bahar Suchona, and Mymensingh City Corporation’s mayor, Ekramul Haque Titu, along with chairmen of five Zila Parishads.
Later, 44 newly elected councillors of general wards and female councillors of reserved seats for Mymensingh City Corporation also took oath.
The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Local Government Division Secretary Muhammad Ibrahim, while Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam administered the oath.
