According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, a very severe heat wave is currently sweeping through Pabna and Chuadanga districts.
Furthermore, the department reports that severe heat wave conditions are being experienced in Rajshahi, Tangail, Jashore, and Kushtia districts. Mild to moderate heat wave conditions are observed in Rangpur, Barishal, and Mymensingh divisions, as well as in parts of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna divisions, Srimangal, and Chandpur district, as per the latest bulletin released on Monday.
The bulletin forecasts that the heat wave may persist for the next five days with no significant changes expected.
Chuadanga recorded the country’s highest temperature at 42.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while 56 mm of rainfall was recorded in the 24 hours leading up to 6 am on Monday.
The forecast suggests the possibility of rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds in Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, with isolated instances of hail. Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky.
During this period, daytime temperatures may decrease slightly, while nighttime temperatures are likely to remain largely unchanged across the country.
Despite the anticipated slight decrease in temperatures, discomfort may persist due to increased moisture incursion.
