Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emphasized today, on the 25th of May, the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents of Dhaka, particularly those in the old city, as she inaugurated four key development projects under the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
She articulated, “The residents of Dhaka, especially in the old city, will experience significant improvements in their living conditions once these four projects are completed. Our efforts are dedicated to achieving this objective.”
The development initiatives encompass a 10-storey Bangabazar Paikari Nagar Market, the construction of an eight-lane road named Bir Muktijoddha Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Saroni stretching from Postogola Bridge to Rayerbazar Sluice Gate, the establishment of Nazrul Sarabor at Dhanmondi Lake, and the modernization of Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy Children Park.
Highlighting the broader scope of development projects aimed at the overall enhancement of Dhaka, the prime minister stressed the government’s endeavors to improve inter-district connectivity with Dhaka.
“We are dedicated to establishing a ring road within Dhaka to facilitate seamless communication between various districts,” she affirmed.
Furthermore, the premier noted the lack of adequate road infrastructure connecting the eastern and western parts of Dhaka. She highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts, including the construction of metro rails and expressways, to address this issue and enhance road connectivity within the city.
The government has already made significant strides in infrastructure development, including the construction of a metro rail and expressway, with additional metro rail projects underway to further improve transportation networks, she added.
