Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today (23 June) on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the ruling Awami League (AL).
At 7 AM, Hasina honored Bangabandhu by placing a wreath at his portrait at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum on Dhanmondi-32. Following the wreath-laying, the Prime Minister stood in solemn silence, paying profound respect to Bangabandhu’s memory.
Later, accompanied by senior party leaders, Hasina, who also serves as the president of the Awami League, placed another wreath at Bangabandhu’s portrait on behalf of the party. She and AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader then inaugurated the day’s program by hoisting the national and party flags and releasing pigeons and balloons.
The Bangladesh Awami League was founded on this day in 1949. Over the years, it has grown into the country’s largest political party, leading significant movements including the struggle for freedom, the War of Liberation, and various democratic movements.
