President Mohammed Shahabuddin today dissolved the 12th Parliament, Jatiya Sangsad, which was formed through the January 7 national election.
“President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved the Jatiya Sangsad following discussions with the chiefs of the three services, leaders of various political parties, representatives of civil society, and leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement,” stated a press release signed by Mohammed Shiplu Jaman, deputy press secretary of the President’s Office.
Additionally, BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been freed. The process of releasing individuals detained during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement from July 1, 2024, to August 5, 2024, has begun, with many already released, according to the press release.
