At a press conference held on Tuesday night at Rajarbagh, Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) A.K.M. Shahidur Rahman urged all members of the Bangladesh Police to gradually resume their duties once security measures are ensured, despite circulating strike rumors.

Addressing the media, AIG Rahman dismissed the unfounded rumors of a work stoppage spreading on social media. He highlighted the vital role of the police in maintaining public order, stating, “The police are the people’s friends and serve the public. A society without the police is unimaginable. Therefore, I urge our police officers to disregard these rumors and return to their duties incrementally, ensuring proper security arrangements.”

Acknowledging the current challenges faced by the police force, AIG Rahman called on officers nationwide to progressively reinforce their security measures. He advised unit commanders to bolster security in their areas and encouraged officers to gradually resume their responsibilities, taking into account the evolving situation.

Furthermore, the AIG provided an update on the retrieval of deceased police officers. He mentioned that bodies discovered at various police stations have been collected and brought to Rajarbagh. Efforts are ongoing to recover bodies from other stations, with plans underway for their prompt burial and return to their respective families.
