The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a cautionary signal no. 3 for the inland river ports of Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet due to the formation of a low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay and the adjacent regions of Gangetic West Bengal-Bangladesh coast. This alert was detailed in a bulletin released by the BMD this morning.

The bulletin also forecasts light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, across most parts of Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. Similar weather patterns are expected in many areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions, with the likelihood of moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall at various locations throughout the country within the next 24 hours, starting from 9 am today.

Additionally, the BMD noted a slight drop in day and night temperatures across the country. The monsoon remains active over Bangladesh, with particularly strong activity over the North Bay.

On Friday, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius in Rajarhat, while today’s lowest temperature was 23.4 degrees Celsius, observed in Tangail. The highest recorded rainfall in the last 24 hours, up to 6 am today, was 96 mm in Hatiya.

In the capital, the sun is expected to set at 6:31 pm today and rise at 5:35 am tomorrow.
