In a message to Prof Yunus and the Advisory Council, Steiner extended his best wishes for their success in guiding the country through a “peaceful, just, and democratic” transition, envisioning a future that is more inclusive and prosperous for all Bangladeshis.

“As a friend, I wish you well on every step along the way and cannot express enough my excitement as you take on this crucial role for your country,” Steiner stated.

On behalf of UNDP, Steiner warmly congratulated Prof Yunus on his appointment as Chief Adviser of the interim Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

“Please rely on our global and regional networks and expertise, particularly in economic recovery and governance strengthening, to support Bangladesh during this critical period of transition,” Steiner emphasized.

He further assured, “Count on our full support, especially through our UNDP Country Office in Bangladesh, headed by Stefan Liller.”
