A strong sweat heatwave is flowing over the country for the last two weeks and it is likely to continue for a few more days while driving the temperature exceeds 40 degrees Celcius on Saturday (03:00 pm noon)
For protection during a heatwave, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), people should move to the coolest room in the home, especially at night.
If it is not possible to keep the home cool, people are advised to spend 2-3 hours of the day in a cool place, such as an airconditioned public building or in a shade.
WHO suggests avoiding strenuous physical activity if possible, otherwise doing it during the coolest part of the day, which is usually in the morning between 4 am and 7 am.
People should not leave children or animals in parked vehicles. It may become fatal.
Bangladesh are facing a tremendous heatwave situation for the past few days and is said to exist till this month ends.
During Summer Season, the temperature rises in Bangladesh, however showers and thundershowers also sometimes occur during midnight or early morning.
