During a coincidental encounter with an old acquaintance in Saudi Arabia after completing the Hajj pilgrimage, Salman F Rahman, the Prime Minister’s Private Industries and Investment Adviser, expressed the view that Pakistan should apologize for the atrocities committed in 1971 as a step towards improving relations with Bangladesh.
According to a press release from Rahman’s office, he conveyed this message to Pakistan President Dr. Arif Alvi during their meeting in Madinah last Thursday. Both Rahman and Alvi had already shared their reunion on social media, revealing that they were childhood friends who had not seen each other for approximately six decades. President Md Shahabuddin was also present at the gathering.
Salman Rahman tweeted on Monday, describing his meeting with President Alvi at Masjid-e-Nabawi and reminiscing about their shared childhood memories. He emphasized the importance of a Pakistani apology for the events of 1971 in order to foster better relations between the two countries. Together, they offered prayers for the well-being of the Muslim Ummah in the sacred city.
