DMCH to be turned into a modern one with 4000 beds

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced on July 10, 2023, that the government has initiated a comprehensive plan to modernize Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), aiming to accommodate and treat up to 4,000 patients simultaneously.

During her virtual address from her office in Dhaka, she revealed the newly formulated blueprint to transform the hospital into a larger, more visually appealing, and state-of-the-art institution. The occasion was the celebration ceremony of the 78th Dhaka Medical College Day, organized by the Dhaka Medical College Alumni Trust at the Shaheed Dr Shamsul Alam Khan Auditorium.

The Prime Minister emphasized the urgency of executing the plan promptly, asserting that its implementation would set a benchmark in healthcare services. Sheikh Hasina urged medical professionals and experts to focus on extensive medical research, stressing its indispensable role in the current era. She highlighted the need for more research initiatives in Bangladesh, stating that only a few individuals presently engage in such endeavors. Promising ample opportunities, the Prime Minister assured the provision of necessary funds to support medical research projects.
