On Sunday (August 20), Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader revealed the toll charges for the upcoming Dhaka Elevated Expressway, which is scheduled to open partially to the public on September 2. The tolls will be categorized and levied on vehicles using the expressway, as outlined by the minister during a press briefing held at the Ministry of Road, Transport and Bridges in Secretariat.
For private cars, microbuses with fewer than 16 seats, and mini-trucks weighing less than 3 tonnes, the toll has been set at Tk 80. Medium-sized trucks with up to 6 wheels will be required to pay Tk 320, while larger trucks with more than 6 wheels will face a toll of Tk 400.
In a separate tariff, all buses and minibusses equipped with 16 or more seats will be obligated to pay Tk 160 to access the Kawla-Farmgate section of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway.
The eagerly anticipated 11.5-km segment of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway is slated for inauguration on September 2 by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The ceremonial inauguration will be marked by a rally hosted at Dhaka’s Agargaon, specifically at the old trade fair grounds.
