Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emphasized that her recent participation in the BRICS summit held in Johannesburg offered global leaders a comprehensive insight into Bangladesh’s remarkable socio-economic progress achieved under her leadership.
Addressing the media regarding her visit to South Africa for the 15th BRICS Summit from August 22 to 24, the Prime Minister highlighted her role in showcasing Bangladesh’s development trajectory during the ‘BRICS-Africa Outreach and BRICS Plus Dialogue’ meeting.
Sheikh Hasina effectively conveyed her government’s efforts in realizing a ‘Smart Bangladesh’ through Vision 2041, outlining the nation’s initiatives and strides in socio-economic development. She further urged Southern nations to unite against unjust inequalities that are often imposed under the guise of universal norms. The Prime Minister expressed optimism that the conference’s focus on Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development, and Inclusive Multilateralism would yield fruitful outcomes, with the BRICS alliance aptly positioned as an ideal platform for driving progress in this direction.
Alongside host President Cyril Ramaphosa, the event saw the attendance of influential leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and Russian President Vladimir Putin via video link.
