The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, commemorating the birth and passing of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM), will be observed nationwide on September 28 with the appropriate religious reverence. This decision was made during a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation (IF) Conference Room in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, presided over by Md Abdul Hamid Jamaddar, the Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as per a press release issued on Saturday.
The meeting announced that as the moon of Rabiul Awal of 1445 Hijri was not sighted in the sky of Bangladesh, the holy month of Rabiul Awal will commence on September 17 (Sunday). It was on this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, that Prophet Muhammad (SM) was born in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, bearing divine blessings and messages of peace for all of humanity. It is also the day when he passed away. As a result, this day is designated as a public holiday.
