The Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) officially launched its bus service on the Uttara-Farmgate route via the Dhaka Elevated Expressway, marking a significant transportation development.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division, and attended by BRTC Chairman Md Tajul Islam. The inaugural bus departed from Farmgate’s Khejur Bagan Golchattar at 11:25 am, symbolizing the commencement of the service.
Initially, eight buses will be available for passengers, with boarding points at both ends of the expressway. The service will operate throughout the day, starting at 7 am, and will continue as long as there is demand from passengers.
The completion of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway, inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on September 2, is expected to accommodate approximately 80,000 vehicles daily, significantly improving transportation infrastructure in the capital.
Upon full completion, the expressway will extend from Kawla to Kutubkhali along the Dhaka-Chattogram highway, passing through key areas such as Kuril, Banani, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Moghbazar, Kamalapur, Sayedabad, and Jatrabari, as detailed by Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
