AQI: Dhaka Ranks 2nd Globally for Worst Air Quality with ‘Very Unhealthy’

Dhaka has secured the second position on the global list of cities with the poorest air quality, registering an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 272 at 8:55 am today. The air quality in Dhaka was categorized as ‘very unhealthy’ according to the AQI.

Topping the list is Karachi in Pakistan, followed by Kolkata in India at the third spot, and Accra in Ghana at the fourth position, with AQI scores of 352, 262, and 234, respectively. An AQI value between 201 and 300 is labeled ‘very unhealthy’, indicating a serious health risk.

The index, which reports daily air quality, provides crucial information on the cleanliness or pollution levels in a city and the potential health effects for residents.
