Indices Surge on Dhaka Bourse amidst Sluggish Turnover

Dhaka Stock Exchange DSE, Bourse on the first working day of the week, April 8th, ended with a hike in Indices and Turnover from the previous working session. This information is known from DSE sources.

415 crore 32 lakh taka shares were traded on this day. 21 crore 42 lahk taka less tradings were done in DSE today compared to the previous workday, 4th April , Shares worth Tk 436 crores 75 lakh shares were traded last time, Thursday.

The benchmark DSEX added 64.19 points or 5,860 The Shariah-based index DSES gained 14.63 points or 1,281, and the blue-chip index DS30 increased by 18.47 points or 2,033.

Of the issues traded, 316 advanced, 36 declined and 40 remained unchanged.

Deshbandhu Polymer Limited ranked top gainer on DSE, the share price increased by Tk 2.90 paisa or 9.80 percent. On this day, the share was last traded at Tk 32.50 paisa.

Northern Jute Manufacturing Co. Limited ranked top loser on the DSE, the share price dropped by Tk 5.60 paisa or 3.85 percent. On this day, the share was last traded at Tk 139.60 paisa.

DSE topped on trade is Alif Industries Limited 17 crore 76 lakh takas of company shares have been traded.

In contrast, Russell 3000 Index saw a gain in week performance, with a slight drop of 17 points to reach 3,009 points by the end of the week.

Moving to Russell 2000 Index, demonstrated a notable hike of 1 point, ending the week at 2,070 points.

European Stocks Shows Mixed Result in Past Week

In the Outgoing week, the European stock market displayed a mixed performance.

Here is the data on the weekly performance of the European Stock Market, The STOXX Europe 600 index, which is considered a leading benchmark for the European market and covers approximately 90 percent of the market capitalization across 17 countries, reported a loss of 2.40 points to close at 518.17.

The United Kingdom’s FTSE 100, one of the most widely followed indices in Europe, also showed a significant drop, losing 42 points or finishing the session at 8,275.

In Germany, the DAX 30 index, dip by 196 points to reach 18,497, while France’s CAC 40 decreased by 102 points to stop at 7,992 at the end of the trading day.

Italy’s FTSE MIB, which covers the top 40 stocks traded on the Milan Stock Exchange, increased by 2 points to 34,492. However, Spain’s IBEX 35, added by 76 points, to close at 11,322.

South Asian Stock Markets Face Broad-Based Losses

A review of South Asian stock markets shows that India’s Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) index BSE Sensex has lost 1,449 points during the week. At the end of the week, the index stood at 73,961 points. On the other hand, the Nifty-50 index of the country’s National Stock Exchange dropped by 427 points last week. At the end of the week, the index stood at 22,530 points.

Pakistan Stock Exchange Index ‘KSE 100’, shed 127 points last week. After a week of losing, the index settled at 75,881 points.

On the other hand, The Sri Lankan stock market index dropped, and the Colombo Stock Exchange index ‘ASPI’ decreased by 242 points in a week. After a week the index settled at 12,106 points.

Bhutan’s stock market index ‘BSI’ lost 17 points hence the index stood at 1,479 points throughout the whole week. Nepal’s ‘NEPSE’ lost 62 points, therefore the index stands at 2,069 points.

Hence Dhaka Stock Exchange: The benchmark index ‘DSEX’ dropped by 60.44 points or 1.14 percent, in the outgoing week. At the end of the week, the index stands at 5,251 points.
